Fans of Christian Louboutin will recognize the 'Trash' technique used to make these ankle boots - it was first introduced in 1999 when the designer spotted leftover ribbon (used to emboss soles) in a studio bin. To craft each pair, artisans in Italy carefully fold and twist gold foil so it catches the light. Each shoe is then encased with clear PVC to recreate the effect of antique glass domes.
