product description
Vintage 1960s Girard Perregaux High Frequency 18K Gold Plated Stopwatch Watch - New Old Stock with Sticker Special ""High Frequency"" Stopwatch - New Old Stock with Sticker on Back Their High Frequency Stopwatch. This officially certified stopwatch employed a long list of advanced technical features. Its precision was such that 70% of the chronometer certificates issued in 1967 by the Neuchâtel Observatory concerned these special high-frequency chronometers. Here are some of the watch's features: ""High frequency"" balance system of 36,000 beats per hour, twice the speed of many traditional wristwatches (most vintage watches beat 18,000 times per hour) and designed to adapt to temperature changes. For decades, 36,000 beats per hour was as fast as any production watch. Without getting too much into the physics of the balance wheel in high-beat watch movements, all other factors being equal, the physics of a high-beat movement is slightly more favorable to consistent timekeeping than the physics of a high-beat movement normal. Officially certified chronometer by the Cosc. The highly efficient Gyromatic system requires a smaller wrist movement to keep the watch fully powered. This also allows the watch to spend more time operating at its maximum power level, which can result in more accurate timekeeping. Adorned with 39 jewels to reduce friction between moving parts. Waterproof style case, sturdy and stylish. In some ways, these watches and the Longines High Beat Chronometer were the best of the best for precision in a mass-produced watch at the time - they were both chronometer certified and they had a much higher beat frequency to that of almost all watches, including all Rolexes of the time. Our HF stopwatch is genuine new stock, still protected by its original sticker on the back - a very rare time capsule piece! The watch shows virtually no handling wear and the slightest trace of wear from its previous opening by the auction house that sold it. It has its original straps and buckle and the original paper sticker on the watch appears unworn. We have tested and timed the watch, and it works extremely well and faithfully, keeping time on par with a brand new stopwatch. Please ask us if you would like one of our master watchmakers to carry out the first service of the watch. Interior photos available upon request.
